Vintage Boat Lamp

This oil and wick lamp from early 20th c. Kerala , traditionally used in temple processions, is a beautifully crafted piece known as a boat lamp, named after its boat-shaped drip basin. Typically mounted on a long pole and carried lit during processions, it radiates a spiritual and cultural ambiance. The top portion features five interconnected circular receptacles for oil, ensuring efficient distribution. The long stem of the lamp is attached to the bottom of the boat-shaped basin, providing stability. At each end of the lamp are intricately detailed birds, adding an elegant touch to this exquisite and functional ceremonial artifact.
