"The Canopy of Emotions" I hope to create an installation that delves into the delicate balance between humanity and the natural world, crafted in collaboration with artisans from the Hampi region. This work is an ode to the beauty of natural fibers and lives of the people interwoven. I envisioned this installation to convey the concept of blending in while standing out—highlighting how humans, as tiny entities in the vastness of our world, possess the power to enact monumental and often irreversible changes upon our planet. Yet, amidst these changes, there exists the potential for positive transformation. We have the capacity to harmonize our lives with nature, enhancing it rather than opposing it.
Against a backdrop of natural fibers sourced from the land itself, the structure rises—a union of these fibers with elements that symbolize our human footprint. These elements serve as reminders of our impact on the environment, illustrating that we are not separate from nature but an integral part of it. The installation speaks to the intertwined relationship between humanity and the Earth, urging contemplation on our role in shaping the future of our planet. The Canopy of Hope resonates with an emotion of HOPE for the future. It is a testament to the resilience of nature and the potential for renewal and regeneration. Through this artwork, I wish to invite viewers to reflect on our collective responsibility to nurture and protect our environment, fostering a future where harmony between humanity and nature prevails.
For me HOPE has been like the canopy of a tree, sheltering me, nourishing me and keeping me grounded. This installation will be my humble contribution to inspiring hope and fostering a deeper connection with our natural surroundings, envisioning a future where our actions bring about positive change for generations to come.
