Craft has for too long been treated with little respect. It has been judged as a product merely of raw material and labour : the ideas, innovations and design of the artisan ignored and forgotten…
How do we break these prejudices and influences?
How do we unlock the true potential of an artisan and create an eco-system that helps fetch the right price for the artisan’s talent?
How do we recognise the artisan as a Designer?
Sanchari plays the role of a virtual design school that opens doors to fresh ideas. The engagement enables artisans to be self-aware of their own reservations about design and innovation. Wider interactions between artisans, designers, and facilitators initiate a dialogue enriching the discourse on craft.
The aim is to go beyond the perceived market demand for craft.
We must go beyond the needs of an individual artisan, designer, catalyst, facilitator or academic involved in bringing forth this work.
We must create a sense of not being “at home” - but push one to see new possibilities. This triggers a collective effort to invest time and energy into an artisan’s development and through it harness the creative power of the community.
Through this show, we embrace the playfulness of the artisan’s workshop, an often overlooked space, and recognise it as a space for problem solving and discovery. A space of Leisure.. Culture.. Innovation... We hope the craft and design on display will improve our understanding of the spontaneity of a craftsman while encouraging us to enquire into the hesitancies we have about ‘handmade’.

Please note that all pieces are either one of a kind or Limited Editions. The First Editions will be Dispatched on 13th July. For all other editions, our sales manager will connect with you to share the details of delivery timeline. Depending on the product, the approximate delivery timeline is between 2 to 6 months.
Each edition piece is made from scratch. It will be virtually the same but with the differences that come from human hands. Since colours are natural, they may vary sometimes because of season.
